What guests actually want from a holiday park app in 2026
What guests actually praise in reviews when a park has a good app, the features they ignore, and the ones that reliably trigger complaints when they're missing.

Guest apps for UK parks went from "nice to have" to "expected" over the last few seasons. But the feature set that actually moves reviews and direct bookings is narrower than vendors will tell you.
The three things guests will leave a 1-star review about if they're missing
- Wi-Fi password and pitch details on arrival. Guests want this on the phone, not laminated at reception.
- Maintenance fault reporting. "We told three different members of staff and nothing happened" is the single most common operational complaint in the dataset.
- Live park map showing where their pitch is. New guests get lost. It's predictable. Solving it is cheap.
If your guest app does only those three things well, you've already addressed the bulk of negative reviews tied to the digital experience.
The features guests actively praise
- Food ordering to pitch. Convenience, but also accessibility — for guests with mobility issues, this is the difference between staying with you again or not.
- Activity booking from the phone. Pool slots, pitch-and-putt, kids' club. Removes the queue at reception.
- Loyalty points balance visible. Surprises guests positively. Drives repeat direct bookings.
The features guests ignore
- Push notifications for offers. They get muted within 24 hours.
- "Discover the area" content unless it's deeply local. Generic "things to do nearby" blocks are skipped.
- Social feeds. Almost nobody posts to a park-branded social wall.
Build for the things guests actually use. Don't build the surface area that nobody touches.
What this means for software choice
When evaluating platforms, ask to see the guest app on a phone — not just screenshots in slides. Test:
- How quickly can a guest find the Wi-Fi password from a cold open?
- How many taps to report a fault?
- Does the park map actually load fast on 4G?
If those answers aren't immediate, the app is going to lose to no app at all.
ParkSphere's guest app is mobile-first, lazy-loaded for poor coastal signal, and includes all three of the "1-star prevention" features by default. See it in a demo.
